I know, whenever I tell you something,
Something I don't want to tell you...
But that I know you'll want to hear,
I know it's going to hurt you.

I know you're going to worry,
I know you're going to want to be here,
with me,
I know... if it hurts me it's going to
hurt you too.

And I know if I hurt you,
It's going to hurt me ten times worse.

So.
Why then, do I bring it up?

The Smallest ThingSome people look at me like I'm crazy,

And I've been lied to,
we all have.
Personally, I like honesty better.

I was, believe it or not,
at one point,
close to this decision.
I'm glad I told myself no.

It was a good poem,

Forever and AlwaysHe's at work, and the kids at school (John and Luna in high school, Danny in middle school, Rosa and Alessandria in Elementary), when his phone rings.

He picks up and leaves the room, ducking out just to rush back in, grab his stuff, and go to get the kids.

He stops by the high school first, and gets John and Luna, then Danny, and lastly, Rosa and Alessandria. The twins ask, "What's going on, Daddy? Why did you pick us up? Where's Mommy?" and he looks in the rear-view mirror for a second, then back to the road.

"Your mommy's at the hospital, sick, baby girls," he says softly, knowing the older kids know what he's talking about- or at least

Tomorrow- Ch. 6I lift my head, laying it against the locker, and open my eyes as teachers and Lunchroom Guy huddle around me.

"I could use some room to breathe, ya know!" I try to shout, but it apparently only comes out in my normal voice- with a hint of hoarseness to it.

Lunchroom Guy squats next me and reaches for the wrist I'm holding against me, but I hold it out of his reach. He is not touching me. Anywhere. Period.

"Hey, I won't hurt you, alright?" He says softly, none of the teachers could have heard.

Not so simple
to say.

Guys say it,
everyday,
for one thing.
Girls say it,
everyday,
and get played.
Like some guitar
by a musician.

I always told myself,
don't be that guitar.
You're not going to fall
for that stupid trick.
